Training Your Animals in The Sims 4: Pets Pet may instead return ill necessitating a trip to the vet. Pets with the Hunter Pet Trait will be more inclined to find objects. When the pet comes back, they may have found a gift of varying worth. Without the alert, it can take a few days with the alert, it may only be a single day. Doing so (which is free) hastens the pet's return to the home. Your human Sim can interact with a computer or their phone to put out a general alert that their pet ran away. If a pet runs away, they will always come back eventually. If this happens, you'll be informed by notification. Pets with the Independent Pet Trait will be more likely to do this, and may run away just because they want to.

If you happen to have both cats and dogs in the same family, know that they eat the same food and can eat out of the same dishes.

Certain Pet Traits will encourage or discourage the pet's playing. Even better, most toys can be placed on the ground so your pets can play at will. You can also order your human Sims to play with their pets, but using objects is more efficient. Cats need scratching posts while dogs need squeaky balls. In addition to food and social needs, your pets need to play. It'll cost you a paltry five simoleons, and it won't be a permanent solution but it may stave off their hunger long enough to get them home.

If you're away from a food dish, you can select the "Feed Treat" social interaction. You'll still receive some notifications in emergencies, such as if your pets are hungry. This is to signify your human Sims learning the pet's specific noises and body language to learn exactly what they need. You'll want to solve those problems immediately else you'll risk their health.Īfter working with your pet for a few days, the thought bubbles may pop up on their own. (Sometimes the notification won't pop up if you've already seen the same need alert in the current play session.) Most of the time their needs are something you need to help with, such as filling food dishes or leading dogs outside to deal with their waste. This will give you a notification that explicitly states their low need and gives the pet a thought bubble illustrating it. When they whine, use the "What's Wrong?" social interaction. When you first work with your pets, you won't know exactly what troubles them when they're upset.
